The problem, which others may have said, is that message boards often serve two, overlapping, purposes. The first is to be a medium of pure information exchange, and the other is to be a community. When all is working perfectly, they can really support one another. But communities can easily become cliquish, as this one has become.
I read another message board devoted to our travel trailer. The members are probably 30 years older on average than that of this board, and it shows - they are courteous, helpful, and conversations seldom stray too far off topic. It helps also that trailering is a "way of life" we have in common, whereas X5 drivers just kinda drive the same car, er, SAV...
The weird thing is that other bimmer.org boards tend to be less obnoxious than this one. I wonder what this says about X5 drivers.
I'm not singling anyone out here - just seconding the feedback that this board has become tiresome to read, which is too bad because it means I'm not inclined to contribute on the informational front, and I suspect it's true for others.
