Drove both. Like the looks of X5 and creature comforts. However, 2002 M500 has lots of new comforts comprable to X5 inc standard navigational system for less money. Adding a tow hitch $150-250 unlike X5 $1400+. Also checked out their forum. Even though they have had quality problems like X5, dealer does take care of things and do not see as much anger as I see on this site. Really like the feel of the X5, but for the money, service, and I wont be roasted alive in an X5, I think I am going for the M Class. New buyers strongly suggest you look at both cars and read the web sites on both.
