Actually, I was told by my dealer that an "O" ring between my fuel tank and the engine (not sure where) had failed, causing the fuel flow to shut off to the engine. The terrible shaking and lurching I felt while decelerating from 120km/hr was due to fuel starvation.

I was quite impressed with BMW road service - very fast. And the BMW dealer fixed my car the next business day.

Regarding your suggestion of the transmission failsafe recall.... I just hope I don't get hit with that one on my next trip.

Cheers,
B

Your car today had the transmission failsafe activate, which they have been recalled for. This should correct the problem. Haven't you been notified to take it in for this repair?

Also the intermittent noise in the back is probably the self-adjusting height pump leveling your car in the rear. Mine comes on occassionally, particularly when I turn the car off. This is normal.
