How exactly are you going to loose $5-10K? Usually, when you buy a brand new car, your policy has a provision saying that if the car is totaled within the first two years of ownership, you get a brand new car of the same model. The insurance company should get you a new car and you would resume payments where you left off prior to the accident.

In any case, good luck and hope that you get another X5.
