am about to get out of 98 ml320. am comparing mdx, x5, and 02 ml. i keep thinking that ML is compromise between value (MDX) and fun (X5) and between reliability (MDX) and engineering fun (x5). i like the X5, and i like German engineering but can't deal with another lemon like the 98 ML. I reviewed and drove them both several times. I think the ml with it's 1200 changes/improvements for model year 2000, quality in much improved. What sold me was the engine, looks, handling and quality of X5, X5 all the way. logged 16000 care free miles to date going for my 1st maintenace today. good luck.
