A couple days ago my X5 was the center vehicle of a chain reaction accident. I was completely stopped waiting for the exit ramp traffic to proceed when a taxi (the driver was eating his lunch of chinese carryout) ran into me. The X5 was towed to the local BMW dealership as it suffered front and rear damage and would not restart due to a built in safety cut out. The insurance appraisal will take place on Monday or Tuesday. I'm somewhat concerned about driving a repaired vehicle. Can anyone come up with some senarios in which I sell the damaged X5 to the dealer and as part of the same transaction, purchase a new X5? Do I involve the insurance company in the negotiations or would this only involve the dealer? The X5 is a 4.4 w/20k. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
