For the sunroof, i already had the same issue. Two of my friends have the older X5 3.0 and the sunroof opens all the way to the back, mine is built in july 01 and it doesn't go back all the way. I went to the dealer to check on my sunroof and the dealer said that BMW put some new stuff such as when the sunroof hit something, e.g hands it will back up while the older X5 don't. That's the answer they give me. I did not believe that way and asked the dealer to show me another brand new X5 and it's the same. I guess they are right.:)
