I have a 4.4/SP/Nav with a June 2001 production date, and the upgrade from v17 to v18 went flawlessly. Anybody with a Mk III Nav system can upgrade, with either a small or wide screen.

Can anyone out there give me a correct answer?? Please only respond if you are confident with your answer.
I bought a new X5 4.4 in August of 2001 (with 16:9 widescreen NAV.) I went to my dealer to get the NAV upgraded to the new split-screen software.

They told me that since my car was manufactured prior to September 2001, it could not be upgraded. From reading previous posting here, it seems that I should be able to.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THE REAL ANSWER?????
