on page 98 of the online manual for the 2002 X5 on the Owners Circle website shows Tire Pressure Monitoring as an option and tells how to use it. I looked up the features on the X5 both the 4.4 and 4.6 and it does not mention anything about a RDC (tire pressure monitoring) Is this not available in the US?
