The black, CPO '01 3.0 X5 with 18K was being sold AS we called about it, so it's a no go.
We were still confused anout whether we would get the 330i or the X5 (no kids), so we drove around for a day in her mother's '01 3.0 X5 getting a feel and then headed to the dealer to drive a 330. Nothing like same day comparisons.
Two things that she really wants on her new car are heated seats- hard to find in the South, and Navigation- hard to find on 3.0 X5's around here, anyway. My 2000 540i6 has nav and she loves it and the TV option I did. Knowing that she could have that for hers makes her want the Nav.
After we drove the 330, I set out through the lot to find headlight washers (meaning heated seats, right?) and I stumbled upon a Black X5. It's beautiful. It's 4.4, it's loaded, heated seats, and get this- it has Nav!
I come back in, inquire, and he gives us the keys to take a look inside. We start it- the V8 sings it's 540-ish tune. I put it in drive and we start off.
It's like the first time I drove a 540 six speed. I'm in love. She drives it. She takes a lane that will merge after the red light and guns in front of the other car- smiling from ear to ear.
We park it in the spot next to my car intending to take it home that night, but the used car manager has left and the new car manager doesn't have the numbers to bargain with, so we return Monday. Here are the particulars:
2001 X5 4.4 Black/Black (May 2001 prod date)
Sport, 19" whls, CWP, Activity, NAV, premium pakcage, load floor, rear climate, and pretty much whatever else you want.
6,300 miles
Not CPO, but he will certify it to make the sale.
They're asking $53,900. He says they'll work with me. What should I expect? I am in danger of thinking it a good deal just 'cause it's $9,000 less than it was new. I am thinking a magic number of $52,000 with CPO.
Your advice helped me a great deal the last time. Any more?
