I have read several articles on how rim sizes are getting larger with very possible drawbacks. The general belief seems to be the larger the rim the better it must be for performance. Many problems/negative attributes can be traced back to oversized rims such as - increased unsprung weight, Tramlining?- tires following crown of road and causing negative steering characteristics. Increased likely hood of rim damage due to thinner sidewall. Increased ride harshness. The articles basically say that after a 18" rim size, there is a very steep rate of diminishing returns.

Overall, I say whatever works for you.
