Color change of type after reading (archive)

The type, on the board, changes color from black to plum, after reading that particular posting. This type color change was permanent for me. Each time I came back to the list, the stuff I'd read was still a different color. This has stopped happening and makes it difficult to find a particular thread in which I'm interested. Has this happened to everyone or is it something I did??
