Kudos to twodogs for this mod. I took a slightly different approach to it with the same results. I used a Unibit instead of the Dremel. If you're not skilled with the Dremel or don't have one, this (besides a drill bit) will be a much easier way to do it. Less expensive also if you don't already own a Dremel.

First, the pics of the two compartments, stock and the replacements.
Here is the pic of the center storage compartments side by side. Believe me, these are night and day difference in inside volume. The factory box is pathetically small in volume.

OK, now the ashtrays. Not much difference besides the cigarette hole extinguisher. The non smokers tray has a rubberized coating on the inside.

Now for the simple mod. The non smokers ashtray does not have the little window that the smokers ashtray does. This window is for the factory light thats next to the cigarette lighter to shine through. I personally use this tray for my various candies and it helps to have this light there. First, take a charged drill and attach your Unibit or drill bit. You can measure out the hole size simply by popping out the clear window in the factory ashtray and fitting a drill bit in there thats snug. On the regular Unibit it is the second to last step. Don't kill yourself trying to get the hole exactly in the same place, the general area is fine.

Heres a few pics inside and outside with the hole done. The rubberized coating on the inside didn't come out as easily so I took the Unibit by hand and reamed out the excess. A exacto knife or other sharp tool will also do the trick.

Now that the "hard" part is done, pop in the window and you're all done. Give yourself a big pat on the back for a job well done. Start to finish is a whole 10 minutes or less. Hope this helps everyone. Enjoy!
