X5 Running Boards (archive)

We're interested in putting running boards on our 2002 X5 4.4. We're not really crazy about the factory wheel flairs, but we can't find a picture or actual vehicle to see how the factory boards look without the flairs. Has anyone installed or seen the BMW boards? The boards on our Cadillac Escalade made it much easier for my 5-foot wife to get in and out. Any advice on after-market boards? There seems to be several people in the forum interested, but no one with first-hand experience.
