The 5 series has a lip that the hood hangs down over the top of the headlights. This covers the significant hole of the angel lights at the top. The lights aren't a complete circle of light. On the X5, the angel lights look like a 3/4 circle of something, but it doesn't look like angel eyes on the X5 to me. It just looks like some added lighting, and loses alot of its presence and effect that it has on the 5 series. The 5 series is shown in the image below. There is no ring of light under the lip of the hood. You see all of the angel eye lighting in the picture, none is missing.
