Anthony, I'm not sure you're talking about Scott's post or mine. Since I'm the one with the Land Rover I'll assume you were talking about my post. And I don't think you read it very well. I DO own a Land Rover AND an X5. And as for your comments on handling I also have a 540i/6. The Rovers have never been known to be well built in that your radio might not work. But they are known for relaibility in that it will get you home from the trail. In Rovers with full floating axles it's possible to change an axle in the trail in 15 minutes. Try that in a Hummer or Durango. In fact my Rover has gotten better with age in terms of lack of problems. My X5 and 540 don't get much better mileage than my Disco 18mpg vs. 14mpg. I never said the X5 was sold for off road use. Go back and read my post again.
What I was saying was what makes an off road vehicle good at off road. And that you buy what fits your needs. Some people will just buy what "looks" good. Either way it's your money. My Discovery fits my needs for off road use and a true Utility vehicle. My X5 fits my needs for a safe family vehicle and the 540i/6 is now my fun family sedan.
