I got this off the BMW TIS CD, it will be more difficult without the illustrations, but here goes:

Needless to say, do this at your own risk.

Turn off engine & remove key. Wait at least 30 minutes for airbag system to go to sleep.

1:Remove clipped in trim (decorative strip) on door panel
2:Remove toggle switch for window operation
3:Remove footwell light
4:Release screw behind trim (decorative Strip)
5:Lever out airbag label & release screw underneath
6:Unclip clips of door panel (special tool 009317)
7:Carefully unclip door panel at top (special tool 009317)
8:Version w/lighted handle- disconnect plug
9:Feed door panel out of unlocking button
10:Unhook Bowden cable for release lever.
