i noticed that the rear bumper cover was pulling away from the right side wheel well area. I was surprised to learn that this is a common problem. my bumb shop believes there may be a design flaw and might result from trauma induced by an automatic car wash. the brushes put pressure on the rear quarter and pulled the panel away from the side of the car. it turns out that the panel covering the rear bumper is simply heat fused to the underlaying (plastic) support in the area near the rear wheel well. BMW refuses to pay for the repair even though the car was never hit in an accident. they deny that there is a design flaw. any similar problems found? it might be wise to hand wash your X5.
