I had my X5 in several times for this issue, a constant clicking of the seat belt mount on the pillar between the front and rear doors -- driver's side. Either no problem was found or nothing ever done. Lord knows I had more important service issues on my car, and never actively pursued this one. Now that I've ordered my M5, I found that there is a TSB for the cliking of the driver's seat belt mount. Maybe BMW feels that this problem isn't on the X5, just as they irrationally limited the aux fan recall to an unexplanably small number of affected vehicles, and had to issue 3 more recalls to get it right.

Anyway, I am getting rid of my X5. If your seat belt anchor clicks, try telling the dealer to check, "TSB 720101 MARCH 2001 Seat Belts - Click/Rattle From Upper Mount." BMW won't tell you about it, and obviously won't tell their dealers either.
