Unfortunately..this appears to be the case. I have a 01 4.4..with 18inch rims. I had a flat..put the spare on..same rim..but smaller 17" tires..When I took it to the dealer for the radiator recall, I asked..answer was..all come with the 17". So. yes..BMW cost cutting.


Just took delivery on my '02 3.0i blk/blk sport/premium/steptronic. I like it better in some ways than my '00 528i sport/premium/stepronic. The ride is harsher over bumps or dips, but about the same on smooth highway. I'm glad for the stepronic...in the standard automatic drive mode the 3.0i has the acceleration of a diesel. I love the feel of all four corners of the vehicle pulling in the tight radius curves with the all-wheel drive. BUT...I felt cheated when I happened to check the spare tire compartment and found a standard 3.0i 17" wheel instead of the 18" sport package wheel! My 528i sport wheels are matched with the spare...did my X get cheated or is BMWNA trying to save a few bucks???
