Weird Transmission Problem -kinda long post- (archive)

Well, I've been reading this board for over 8 months now, but believe it or not I've had my first glitch. Have an '01' 4.4 non sp. with around 14,000 miles now and it's been relatively problem free, until now. Noticed for the first time, when I disengage the DSC, put the car in manual transmission mode (1st gear), and accelerate hard off the line, the transmission will NOT automatically shift me out of first gear and into second. It ran to the red line and shut me down at around 6700 RPM's.(Approx.) Even when I manually try and shift to second gear, it won't let me. When I re-engage the DSC, then it "idiot" shifts to second gear under full acceleration regardless of whether or not I manually try and put it in second gear.

So, to summarize, manual mode, DSC is off, floor it and no matter what, will not shift me out of 1st gear. Only way to get out of 1st gear is to slap the gearshift lever back over to normal mode.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
