I was at my BMW dealer last week to program the headlight to be on every time I start my X5. They programmed it using DIS and it activates the Xenon light. As soon as I turn the ignition to position two the xenon light turns on. The light switch has to stay on position two also when turning off the engine. When ignition is on position 0, light turns off. In position 1 the stand light is on. A very comfortable feature.

In Switzerland the law recommends to have the headlights on day and night since this year. I think it will mandatory within the next few years.

BTW: It's a 2001 X5 3.0 with rain sensor (if this is important to you)

Marc
