Ford has big problems to be sure, but a least they have recently admitted that they dropped the ball and made management changes. They realize that they must do better in the future regarding quality. What has BMW done to improve quality lately?

The first step required to solve any problem is to acknowledge that a problem does indeed exist. Ford has acknowledged that they have a problem with quality, but has BMW?
