I had an M roadster. Very twitchy and has a "no mans land" as you try to correct the over-steer. Great fun car but hard to drive if you are a novice. Actual, hard to drive for anyone at the limit. Very quick and "agile" if you keep it without getting the tail out on you with NO clue that it was going to happen.

M3 LOVES to get the power down. Great differential and traction. Very great in slaloms and loves to get sideways and getting out of the chicane without having to counter correct. Let is SLIDE! Could never do that with M rdstr.

As for the M5, I have to only believe that if your question was about "handling", the M3 would have to have the logical benefit and more agility if nothing else other than because of the weight difference. I also believe that the m3 has a better diff and might get the initial power down quicklier than M5. The M5 will take over once the torque/grip question is solved.

So, I would say M3 is the best handling.

hope this helped
