Ap4 said,

If you were totally satisfied, you would have no reason to visit this forum and desperately seek those who will support your opinions and answer your question; "did Jim make the right decision?".

That statement simply isn't rational. It makes little sense for me to visit an X-5 forum to seek those who will support my decision to buy an MDX over an X-5. If I needed such reassurance - which I don't - I would only post to various MDX forums or read all of the PROFESSIONAL REPORTS that compared the MDX with the X-5. However, the reverse proposition makes a good deal of logical sense. So it is actually Ap4 (et al.) who comes here - a forum populated with X-5 enthusiasts - to seek those who will support his opinions on the X-5. Reading Consumer Reports has really heighted his angst regarding the X-5 so this is a particularly difficult time for him. Ergo, when he sees a post that challenges his flawed preconcieved ideas, he gets very upset and that triggers a defense mechanism. Does that remind you of anyone else at this forum?

When Ap4 externalized and attributed his need for support onto me he was "projecting." This is an unconscious defense mechanism that Ap4 (along with some other X-5 owners at this forum) uses to protect his ego from shame, anxiety, conflict, loss of self-esteem, or other unacceptable feelings or thoughts.

I'm mainly here to see what BMW is doing to fix it's reliability problems with the X-5. So far, they don't seem to be doing much beyond increasing their advertising budget. I'm sorry if the truth is so painful.
