Echostar CEO Regen has committed that if the merger goes through, they will determine the best technolgoes to use, and may use the best of both, like Echostar has the best menu system.

He says people should not be concerned, because they guarantee that all customers will continue to receive the programming they currently do, and new equipment or modifications and installation will be provided at no charge to guarantee future compatiblility with whatever results after the merger. Buy whatever system you like best now based on your requirements. You won't be affected by the merger.
