i recently just changed my oil as well. 8 quarts of Mobil 1 fully synthetic. I haven't noticed any knocking mine is an '02 4.4. I definately think it's a good idea to change your oil often because at 15k the oil would be pitch black and i don't think that's good for the engine.....a regular change doesn't hurt and in the long run might even help keep your engine strong.
