ALL BMWs, including the X5, have a barely discernable difference in ride quality between non-sport and SP equipped cars. I tried them all. 7, 5, 3, and X5. Amazing engineers they have there. Other brands, no way, huge tradeoff.

BMW? About 5% loss of ride quality to 100% gain in stability and cornering ability. Always get SP on BMWs. Always. Trust me, I am very sensitive and attentive and I'm being brutally honest too.

I remember test driving 3.0 w/no SP oh my God, it was horrible, rolled so much in turns.

I went for the sport package mosty to get the
better 18" wheels, the blackout trim, slightly stiffer suspension also. I notice very little difference; I think the S is mostly cosmetic.

Live in New York State. What do you think of the sports package ride and handling as compared to the standard model? Also, any difference in winter handling?
