Its the usual story when a new model comes out - unless you are on the waiting list you'll have to pay a premium and the dealers know this. Added to that, the fact its an M car which will probably be limited in numbers, and I think you'll always find someone who'll pay the extra.
Although its a well known "rumour" that BMW have to adhere to strict pricing, in actual fact dealers can charge what they like to go with the market (inside info!). BMW are more interested that their dealer's keep up the standards of customer service etc.
I'm waiting for an M Coupe (8-10 weeks away at the moment) and think that it's one of the nicest looking cars around. I've currently got a 2.8, but the reviews I've been of the Coupe have all been excellent, in particular praising its handling, even over the M Roadster. But, a lot of people I've shown the pictures too think its awful to look at - I don't think a lot of the photos do it justice to be honest.
Definitely a case of love it or loathe it. Its gonna be a long couple of months for me...
