DRL on US Spec M Roadster - How? (archive)

For several months, I have been trying to modify my M-Roadster so it has daytime running lights. I am getting closer, but still need some help. I was told that all I need to do is replace my Crash Control Module (8 364 691) with a (Canadian) DRL Module (8 368 039). Sounded good, so I got the DRL Module and installed it only to find out I had NO low beam headlights. So, now what?

I have been told that the Z3 DRL implementation turns on the low beam headlights at reduced power whenever the ignition is on. Can anyone verify, or expand upon, that for me?

I have not been able to get Canadian schematics, but from looking at the US schematics, it appears that the Canadian DRL module must be accompanied by either a Canadian High Beam Light Relay or Low Beam Light Relay (I can find no unique Canadian version of either). I can also see how a simple wiring modification would result in the low beam headlights being on whenever the ignition is on, but NOT at reduced power. Ideas?
