: I had my Dinan supercharger installed about 800 miles ago. After I picked it up, I noticed that the car would run terribly after a cold start-up. Once the water temperature guage got out of the "blue zone", it ran fine. I called Dinan and apparently there is a programming "bug" in the chip that they reprogrammed to make the car run with the supercharger. Mine will have to go back to Dinan once they've perfected the fix. I'm getting close to the end of my "break-in" period (yes, I follow manufacturers instructions for break-in), so at this point I can't report on performance changes. Gas mileage hasn't seemed to change (still 22-25mpg). Another 200 miles and I'll be able to start putting my foot into it! Until then, I'll just keep enjoying the ride and the washing/waxing (often because it's black/black/black)!

It isn't necessarily a Dinan programming bug. All M roadsters (and M3s) run terribly the first few minutes after you turn them on. To allow the car to meet emissions requirements on a cold engine, BMW had to alter the engine program so much that the engine doesn't run well on startup. Once the engine heats up, emissions are cut way down, so the program can go back to "normal" mode. What you are experiencing sounds just like this.
