No apology necessary. It amazes me how emotional a subject this is. There are, of course, reams of statistics (many from countries where DRLs are required) that prove, as most statistics do, whatever you want to conclude. (My PhD in Operations Research allows me to make this assertion without regret.)
Quite frankly, I care not what you think when you see my lights on in the daytime, as long as you see them on and don't pull out into a head-on situation.
Cost, I'm not sure since I don't have the puzzle solved. Should be less than $100 to modify my Z. Operations costs are arguable (need to generate more electricity and replace headlights more frequently).
Now, excuse me while I see if I can find my sunglasses, looks like it will be a great evening for a drive.
