Sounds like my typical quick lets-go-for-a-drive except I start/end in Santa Cruz :-) It makes for a lovely afternoon of driving. If you can time it so you're at either West Cliff Drive (Santa Cruz) or Pigeon Point Lighthouse for sunset, you get bonus points!

Other fun variations on this theme include the stretch of Hwy 84 between Hwy 1 and Hwy 35, a long as the construction due to the El Nino damage isn't too bad. I tend to do that rather than 92 to 1 due to all that construction coming down the "hill" to Half Moon Bay.

Wave at the Atl. Blue Z3's as they drive by in the other direction - one of them's probably me :-)

K^2 - who used to commute from Santa Cruz to Capitola by way of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse...

: This is my typical weekend drive.

: Take highway 9 to highway 35 (skyline blvd).
: 35 to 92
: 92 out to 1 (half moon bay)
: 1 all the way to Santa Cruz (stop for some food).
: Catch 9 again to get back to Saratoga and home.

: This has fun twisty sections (well when I am not stuck behind some slow minivan) and gorgeous scenery. This is definitely a day trip. I usually do this or variation of it when I get the craving to go driving. Anyway, if anyone is interested in coming along, let me know.
