Oh, thank god for free time! I'm down to part time at UCSF now, and w/the 12 hour shifts, that's only 2 days a week!!!

You know, after we got the camera, we weren't sure what to get- finally, we went out and got the miroVideo DV300 capture card, which came with a great little software package called DV Tools. It was a royal pain to set up, though. (Michael's job. All the difficult parts are his job!) It kept nosing in on the sound card's IRQ and killing it- but he finally got it going.

It also came with a "light" version of Premiere, which we upgraded to the full 5.0 just before the homecoming. That's gonna take awhile to get down, but we've got the basics okay (We use the Ulead .gif animator, and that's a neat package- really friendly to work with!)

We're also using the Real Publisher. Michael has it set up so that it's all pretty easy for me- (a necessity, or else I try to break things!) I just plug the camera into the firewire, capture a clip w/ the DV Tools, run it thru Premiere, then open it in Real Publisher and run it thru that, letting it publish the clip right onto a site.

I still have alot to learn, though, especially with the Premiere- But I can see the possibilities, and, boy, it's neat!!!

Next comes a 3 CCD digital camcorder, a huge hard drive, maybe a faster processor, a then, of course, a CD burner. . . (haha! Got you back, Michael! I saw what you wrote about Christmas and wanting an /M!!!)
