for the approx $450 they want for it (and you can talk them down) I'm not sure how much better you can do aftermarket. If you're willing to ante up a couple hundred more, you can, undoubtedly get a great system. For a couple hundred more an even greater system (yes, I beleive I can sometimes hear DC's system up here in Boston!).

However, bottom line is the bottom line: If you're an audiophile, you won't be happy and you need to spend more money, if you're just looking for a better system than stock (which really is a miserable failure) the HK falls into the "OK if I can get it at discount" category.

Listen to one on the road and decide if it's for you. Lots of us find it more enjoyable listening to the road and aren't so concerned about the tunes.

I do agree with others here that for 40 large the HK should be a "standard" and they should offer some other "premium" package for an additional $500.
