well i finally went and did it, i ordered track rims and tires (in preperation for the driving school here Oct 10-11)

originally i liked the BBS RK rims but decided to order another set of rims from QI due to the funky offsets (8mm) on the rear rims....so i called Scott this AM and ordered them and some other parts....i get a call from Norm later in the day saying that he needed an ///M VIN for the rims, so i gave it to him...got a call later saying that ///M roadster rims are on "down car" release only (meaning that your car has to be not running to get the rims from BMW due to a shortage)

on soap box...
why the hell can't any of these manufacturers (i mean the rim supplier, Michelin and Bridgestone with the 245/40/17 tires) make enough to satisfy the demand????...don't make just enough to satisfy the need for the cars coming off the new car line b/c there will be other needs
off soap box

sorry for the interuption...back to the story...

anyway Norm says if i want blems i can get those no problem but if i want nonblem rims i will have to wait....i say that i would like one rear rim that is nonblem (b/c i scratched it already) and if the blem rims are structurally intact and cheaper i would take them...he said the price is the sam... so i said thanks but no thanks, i'll find some aftermarket rims

i call the Tire Rack and ask them about rims and tires...their website lists only 7 rims in 17" and 18" that will work on the M roadster...actually these rims are the only ones they will guarantee will work (if they don't they will take them back)...so i ended up with, you guessed it the BBS RK (17x8 in the front, 17x10 in the rear)....added Yokohama A032R in 235/45/17 to the front and 255/40/17 to the back (they don't make 245/40/17 or 265/40/17 which were the sizes i wanted)....i said ok i will take them...he says we don't have any 235/45/17 Yokos in stock so the soonest we can get these out to you is the week of oct 12...i say i wanted them for the weekend of oct 10-11, he says "let me check other things"....while he was doing that i was asking him if there were any other sized tires they would guarantee...he didn't answer...what he did find was that the Reno store had all the rims and all the tires in stock (shipping from reno as opposed to south bend is $17 more)

price breakdown
front
BBS RK 17x8 $345
Yoko A032R 235/45/17 $154
each front $499

rear
BBS RK 17x10 $325 (yes the wider rear rims are cheaper than the fronts)
Yoko A032R 255/40/17 $171
each rear $496

front $499x2= $998
rear $496x2= $992
total $1990
shipping $72.14

grand total $2062.14 (ouch)

total money spent on stereo upgrades- $0 :)

i'll let ya know how they work out

btw...the ///Monster goes into the shop for all the problems next wednesday
