Will autocrossing/time trials deteriorate the Z3? (archive)

Still loving my 6/98 2.8, and now with 4500 miles on it, I'm starting to feel one with the car. I'm thinking about autocrossing it and maybe doing some trial stuff (admittedly I know very little about both) cause I've learned the hard way doing this stuff in town can be expensive (like a whole morning in court and $150)....

Please don't start a long thread about dangerous driving, etc. I've taken it all to heart and as I said learned about it the hard way.

Will autocrossing lead to my Z3 slowly becoming "old?" or worn out?

What is the experience of those that do this regularly. I'm not serious enough about it to get different wheels/tires or anything.

I am debating keeping my Z3 forever as it is my first car (bought it two months before my 21st b-day) and I've heard too many people say they wish they still had their first car.

Thanks for comments/suggestions in advance
