: Here's my problem.
: My Z3 is a 1.9 and the last time I took her in for service, I complained about the way she idled. As a responce, I got the I got back the "standard" response - "no problem exists". Well, last week I was reading the Digest and a post identified a Service Bulliten on this matter. Sure enough, I called my dealer and I now have an appointment for friday.
I had the same problem, I thought my 1.9 idled rough. I was as the reunion, they have a test function on the engine check software for roughness.
Apparently they measure changes in crankshaft acceleration, and a dimensionless number is assigned to the roughness. Mine measured less than 100 on all cylinders. The techs told me above 600 would trigger a check engine light, to prove it he pulled an injector plug harness off and sure enuff, the number shot up to 2000+ and the check engine lite came on.
The tech told me that he had never seen a 1.9 with less than 100 on all cylinders!
I think it's too rough, but hey what do I know?
: Now here's my problem. It appears that leaving donuts for the technican is the "smart thing to do"! But, I'm going to be dropping my car off at the dealer's 14 hours before the technican begins to work on the car - I don't think day-old donuts are the "proper" gift! And I can't go by the dealer during the day, to drop off donuts. Does anyone have any suggestion or an alternative to donuts.
: an appointment to bring my Z3 in
Let me know what they do, and how the donuts work if you use them!
