: I was going to wait for a 2.8 in '96. A dealer called who a 1.9 with almost everything I wanted. I didn't wait and haven't regretted it.

: I believe the so-called lack of performance is in the jaded eyes of road test journalists. If you want some more performance do what I did and put a Remus (drastically improves the tinny exhaust note), RMS big-bore throttle body and a K&N on the 1.9. I drove a 2.8 when they first came out, and was not real impressed. I have also driven a 528. As right as that engine is for the sedan, it is wrong for the Roadster. It is brilliant in its linearity of response, yet it is not a sports car engine -- no peakiness. On the '97 Reunion run, I found I could easily keep up with the 2.8s albeit with a bit more shifting, but shifting in a Z3 is a pleasure, not a chore.

: As for handling, the extra two cylinders of the sixes are added to the front of the engine. This increases the polar monment of inertia and dulls the handling. If you look in R&T you will find that the 1.9 (December '95) scored the highest lateral acceleration number (0.91g) of the 3Zs.
: Styling-wise, I especially like the front of the 1.9 over the 2.8. I haven't seen a 2.3, so I don't know what nose they are using on it.

: Just be happy and enjoy it!

Kern I agree completly with you,I have both a 1.9 euro with Supercharger and a ///M euro.
My max.pleasure is when I beat that Pony cars
with the 1.9,due to his body-style they don't expect to get beaten by a 4 cyl.car.In the contrary with the MZ3 ,due to the bigger fenders and the more mean style they show more respect.
By the way Harry enjoy it,the 1.9 is the one that started all remender that.In the late 50'Jaguar had pass before to the XK 140 and after to the
xk 150,more power, more confort ,disc brakes
etc.but look now which of the XK is more wanted the first one,the XK 120......Ok I know
may be is not the same thing but who cares?

P.S.Sorry for my English.
