The Castle is an old mansion on top of a hill in Ipswitch Mass. The Concourse attracts several hundred vintage cars and several thousand visitors. Susan and I spent the day here and thought we could share some of the pictures with you. There's some BMW/Z3 content (more shots of the 100K //M and some Coupe pictures), but it's
mostly just old cars. There's loads of pictures, so it you have a slow line, press STOP now!
The first thing you
notice is the range of cars. Some are grouped together by marque, most are just sort of scatterd around. This nice MG was wedged in between the Jag and the Pontiac.
The next thing you notice is the number of cars! The view on the leftis up the lawn, towards the cliffs that looks out to sea. The view on the right is up to the manor house.
There are loads of cool cars, from this Cobra,
To this Dino
One of my favorites - a Pantera
The cool thing about these shows is that you sometimes get to see the "off brand" cars as well:
This is a Cross truck (kind of hard to see, but the back's a pickup). Also hard to see is the hood ornament: A brass lemmon!
This Jag is the only one in the US - A Station Wagon (the English call them "Estates")
Susan found her favorite -- A BMW Issetta! ("How much are they! Can we buy one?").
However, my favorite matchbox-wannabe is the Meschersmidt:
About the only modern cars at the event were the //M Coupe and //M:
However, Mr. 100K did put in an appearance, fresh from Spartenburg:
Check out the historical BMW's in the background
Then the batteries in my camera gave out.
But we got one last picture - what did James Bond drive BEFORE the 1.9? Here's the answer:
