: : Junk it. A decent quality aftermarket CD player/tapedeck puts out more clean power than this amp does. Of course, we could have the Z3 Olympics and the "Amp Toss" could be one of the events...
: ....But as long as I'm tossing the amp.....
: I've got two amps, the original base stereo amp out of my previous 1.9 and now the HK amp. I Also have a box full of stock and HK speakers.
: Q: do you think someone who has a '96 or '97 non HK stereo would benefit from just a front speakers (tweeter, midrange and woofer) and amp swap to the HK. The HK amp is designed to power a subwoofer and rear speakers in addition to the fronts, but what if you just swapped the front speakers and HK amp and left it at that.
It might be worth their while to swap the amp for the H&K (does the upgrade amp just plug in?). Absolutely not worth it to swap the speakers. If they are going to go to all that trouble, they might as well purchase decent aftermarket speakers.
: Or, for example take someone like Carter who upgraded to the MB Quart speakers. Would plugging in the HK amp in place of his amp provide any noticable improvment.
If the H&K amp just plugs in, then yes, I would swap it. I certainly can't hurt, LOL.
: If you think it would provide any improvment I would trade someone my HK stereo and speakers for a pair of Keith's new Chrome Stoneguards.
I think the Stoneguards for the H&K amp would be a fair swap for any interested party.
: (I have no idea if I just insulted the HK stereo or Keith's Stoneguards with that offer)
I don't know either - but I ordered a pair of the new Stoneguards myself!
