In Reply to: Anyone buy and have tires shipped to them? posted by Mark on September 29, 1998 at 15:12:32:

after factoring in the shipping and negotiating with local discount guys, i got a better deal locally. This was true on all tires I priced, Bridgestone, Pilots and Dunlops. I basically told the local guys their competition was tire rack and they came up with great prices. Course I live in a sales-tax free state.

: I had to replace my rear tires at the homecoming, and bought 235/40/Z17 Michelin Pilots - $525 for the 2 of them with mounting, balance, etc.

: Now I'm in the process of trying to locate 2 more for the front end, but here in Dallas, the folks are a little more proud of them - $300/326 apiece.

: So - I'd like to hear from anyone who has purchased tires outside of their are and had them shipped in. Anyone have a good recommendation of who to buy from?

: Thanks!
