i agree that i'd rather not attempt this myself, but dealers and shops are prohibited from disabling the airbag unless i get permission from big brother. a nifty catch-22.

i did find a company that claims to sell the info necessary to disable the air bag, including how to make the computer happy. we'll see if they actually come through with useful info.
