|HK amp wanted (archive)|

Does anyone have a spare HK amp that they would be willing to sell for a reasonable sum? I'd like to find out whether an HK amp would improve the sound in my car. (See below for status of stereo system)
Does anyone know the power difference between a pre-1998 standard amp and an HK amp? Is the HK amp rated at 200W vs. 120W for the standard amp?
I have a 1997 2.8, which came with 6 speakers and a silver-colored amp. I have since performed the following upgrades:
1. Changed the amp to the black-colored amp, which supposedly has better equalization settings.
Effect: The sound became much less muffled. The high frequencies became audible.
2. Added the subwoofer and rear speakers.
Effect: More bass and rear fill.
3. Changed the kickpanel speakers to Boston Acoustics RX57s. (The MB Quart QM130TX3 was out of stock and I was impatient)
Effect: Much clearer vocals.
I would rate the upgrades in order of sound improvement:
a. Replace the kick panel speakers
b. Upgrade the amp to the black amp or an HK amp(?)
c. Add the subwoofer
d. Add the rear midrange speakers
