|A Z-28??? You must be joking... (archive)|

Last night Angela and I were on the way back from the store on 148th ave NE (two lanes each direction with a center island). We were behind a Z-28, my guess is around an 89-90, whatever year was before the current body style (not counting most recent facework this past year). The guy keeps looking in his rearview mirror at us. The light turns green and he punches it and with some nice exhaust smoke, off he goes. Angela asks "Is he racing you?". I dunno, let's pull alongside and see. I easily catch up to him and pass him on the right and let off to see his reaction. Sure enough he looks over and punches into it again. Well, we'll have none of that so I floor it and fly right by him leaving him car lengths behind. What is this guy trying to prove? We are coming up on the next light and each of us has cars in front of us at the light so I slow up and stop behind the car in front of me. He practically locks up his brakes and stops just short of the car in front of him. The light cycles and since we have to wait on the cars in front of us to move he proceeds to "impress" us with a power-brake whereby he must have cut about a 1/4" of his tire rubber of his rear wheels with the smoke he threw up. Wow, were we impressed, I was surprised his brakes held and didn't launch him into the car in front of him. At the last minute he cut over into the left turn lane and went left, I guess he just wanted to leave us in his "dust" or smoke shall I say.
I don't get it, but then there are all types of drivers. I guess he probably wasn't too happy about his V-8 Chevy losing to what he may have thought was a 4-banger BMW. He didn't look like he understood the meaning of ///M or in fact could get that high in the alphabet judging on the appearance of his car and his driving style...
Anyway we tooled on home amused at yet another Seattle driver... :-)
Anxiously awaiting my new CHROME stone guards! :-)
(Believe me, Chrome paint didn't work too well on the first set....)
