: Does anyone have a spare HK amp that they would be willing to sell for a reasonable sum? I'd like to find out whether an HK amp would improve the sound in my car. (See below for status of stereo system)

: Old posting:
: Does anyone know the power difference between a pre-1998 standard amp and an HK amp? Is the HK amp rated at 200W vs. 120W for the standard amp?

: I have a 1997 2.8, which came with 6 speakers and a silver-colored amp. I have since performed the following upgrades:

: 1. Changed the amp to the black-colored amp, which supposedly has better equalization settings.

: Effect: The sound became much less muffled. The high frequencies became audible.

: 2. Added the subwoofer and rear speakers.

: Effect: More bass and rear fill.

: 3. Changed the kickpanel speakers to Boston Acoustics RX57s. (The MB Quart QM130TX3 was out of stock and I was impatient)

: Effect: Much clearer vocals.

: I would rate the upgrades in order of sound improvement:
: a. Replace the kick panel speakers
: b. Upgrade the amp to the black amp or an HK amp(?)
: c. Add the subwoofer
: d. Add the rear midrange speakers
