new motor. However, at the next oil change I would opt for the 10W40. At least you leaned toward the lighter side which is better in a new motor than something like a 5W50. Who knows, after I have 200,000 miles or so on my 98/2.8 and the engine becomes a little loose, I may consider the 5W50 myself here in sunny and very hot Florida!!! As I mentioned, I put in the Redline 10W40 at 2,500 miles and 4,000 miles later the dipstick level hasn't even dropped a sixteenth of an inch!! The oil is clear and clean like new!
