It's neat that your not using/leaking any oil, but you do realize that with modern oils they are supposed to turn ugly looking.
The purpose of the detergents in the oil is to keep contaminants in suspension in the oil, so they will come out in the next oil change.
Back before detergent oil, the sludge would drop out of the oil and collect all over inside the engine, then if you were especially unlucky chunks
of sludge would break loose and go looking for a place to cause trouble in the engine.
So if your oil turns black after a few thousand miles, it's much better than that stuff staying in the engine.
:As I mentioned, I put in the Redline 10W40 at 2,500 miles and 4,000 miles later the dipstick level hasn't even dropped a sixteenth of an inch!! The oil is clear and clean like new!
