BMW will not warrenty the Remus exhaust (but the old exhaust standing in the corner of your garage will still be under warrenty).
Seriously, if something happens and BMW traces the cause of the problem to something that was not part of the stock car then they will not pay for it. This can be a big deal when you are putting in things like Air intakes, Software, bigger tires, etc. But since the exhaust is an exit point (nothing downstream) the only example I have heard where an aftermarket exhaust screws with a warrenty is if it is installed badly and messes up the catalitic converter, or if it gets hung off kilter and melts part of the rear bumper.
Off all the upgrades I did on my 1.9, the only warrenty issue (for me and the current owner) was when it was in for an alignment and they found the front swaybar bolt was loose. Obviously since it was an aftermarket swaybar the repair was not covered under warrenty.
If I was going to rank all the 1.9 upgrades I did on that car, the Remus Exhaust would probably be my #1 favorite upgrade on the list. 3 or 4 months ago Mark (current owner), myself and Mo (stock 1.9) all went to a dyno day event here in Dallas. Comparing Mo's (stock) to Mark's (Remus) dyno showed a slight increase in torque across the band with a peak gain of +5 in HP in the high RPM range.
