: Wait again!
I previously owned an Integra and did some of the customizing called Riceboy to my car (I'm single, white, female, blond, livin in California) when I lived in Phoenix. Now I'm in the Bay Area and my SO is Asian (maybe a Mr. Z-3 someday). I did not think then, or now, that it is a racial slur or intent to be ethnocentric to call a car a Riceboy because of it's customization. Perhaps someday the Z-3 will have it's own nickname to refer to the customizing owners do.
Please know that I've lurked this board also for the past month or so and the people posting here really have no malicious intentions- we're car owners sharing our fun experiences. If we nickname other types of cars, it's fun poked at the autos, not intended to hurt or name-call their owners. I'm sorry if you feel hurt by something anyone has said on this board.....
: : Richard, chill out. Devon is right. There is nothing racially motivated in the term riceboy. You need to get over it. Here's a fact, Mrs. the Baba is a ricegirl. If that was offensive, don't you think the Baba would be raising a serious stink?
: : The fact of the matter is it is not racially motivated. Next time you see a civic that is lowered, Vtec stickers everywhere, coffee can exhaust, etc. Think riceboy.
: : If anyone had racially motivated intentions they would effectively be banned from the board from popular consensus. Don't be overly sensitive and read into something that is simply not there.
: : Oh yeah, Sue is ricegirl too.
